The conference aims to encourage initiatives, suggest solutions and provide a platform for debate and development of ideas for Mountain Tourism that can pave the way for sustainable growth in human, social, cultural and economic development and make it a booming sector in 21st century in consultation with all the stakeholders.
Some of the most renowned personalities of tourism across the globe are going to participate in the plenary sessions. You will be given a chance after the Conference to travel to some of the most exotic
natural valleys and mountains of the Hindukush and Himalayas and experience the flavour of different cultures and people. Various workshops during the conference are designed to gather your input about this sector and to make an action plan for its development.
The conference also aims to promote mountain tourism in Pakistan and develop methodologies for best practice in this sector for the 21st century. Discussing the challenges ahead with their solutions and
development of a action-plan for mountain tourism to benefit many players involved.
This Conference offers the following attractions to its participants:
1- Post Conference tours to the exotic Chitral, Swat, Galliat & Kaghan valleys of Pakistan.
2- One day Special Steam Train Safari to the legendary Khyber Pass.
3- A full day and a half day Cultural Heritage Trail of Peshawar City including its historic buildings, streets, bazaars and Peshawar Museum.
4- A first of its kind cultural dress show exposing our cultural dresses on a grand cat-walk.
5- A 'Grand Dinner' at the historic Fort Balahisar to be opened for the first and last time to the tourists in this millennium with our traditional dances and folk music.
6- Artisan Village ( displaying all the handicrafts, articrafts from our artists).
7- Air Safaris over the grand mountains of Himalayas,Karakorum and Hindukush.
8- Movies on the mountains of Pakistan.
A three day tourism mart is being arranged during this conference where all the tourism related businesses will setup their stalls, such as tour operators, travel agents, Hoteliers, etc. The stalls can be booked for Pak Rupees 3000 for three days on first come first serve basis. (SPCS) Support Unit in collaboration with several other sponsoring institutions including Pakistan Associations of Tour Operators (PATO), Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
We would like to invite you to share your ideas, skills and experiences with us and help us plan a more sustainable future for the Tourism Industry, while we have not yet exploited/destroyed this resource. There is lot of interest at the highest level of government and other concerned people to plan this conference well and make it a big success.
